www.PopArtGalleries.com Nicolosi Pop Art Bio

Celebrity Pop artist Nicolosi has quickly become a household name in today’s top contemporary art circles by creating his signature Pop art portraits of many of today’s top luminaries in entertainment, sports, political and corporate arenas.
Dr. Nicolosi, who attended the University of Iowa, has been painting nearly his entire life. He sold his dental practice to completely immerse himself in his passion for creating art. Nicolosi creates paintings saturated with color using explosive, bold strokes. His artwork is intense and is a refl ection of the passion embodied in this modern day mono-moniker artist. He loves to use heightened colors such as chartreuse, electric blue, lemon yellow, fuchsia and purple. Through Nicolosi’s eyes, every color represents an emotion. Nicolosi’s art journey fi rst garnered media attention when his signature Pop art portraits caught the eye of America‘s favorite “Golden Girl,” Rue McClanahan, and then, legendary actress, Patricia Neal.
In 2006 Nicolosi’s Pop art career catapulted onto the world stage after being featured on Entertainment Tonight during their live telecasts of several award shows, including The 58th Annual Primetime Emmys, The 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards, The 78th Academy Awards® Nominees Luncheon and The 60th Festival De Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. Nicolosi’s Pop art portraits added incredible glamour to The 60th Festival De Cannes. Helen Mirren signed her Nicolosi portrait in Cannes. The roster of celebrities who have autographed their own Nicolosi Pop art portrait during the 2007 award season reads like a who’s who of tinsel town, including: Mariska Hargitay, George Clooney, Helen Mirren, Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Brad Pitt, Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Murphy and Jack Nicholson.
Nicolosi donates select Pop artwork to a host of his favorite charities such as The Prince’s Trust, Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS and Habitat for Humanity. Even Broadway’s new “It” girl, Laura Bell Bundy, has recruited Nicolosi to whip up a Pop art portrait of her on-stage pooch, Bruiser, for the world premiere of the new Broadway blockbuster extravaganza, Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Linda Bell Blue, executive producer of Entertainment Tonight and The Insider, said, “Nicolosi is one of America’s most acclaimed Pop artists and he is the ideal choice to create paintings benefi ting charities endorsed by the entertainment industry.” Recently, Nicolosi and Senator Barack Obama were named as the two most recent “prominent Chicagoans” to serve as honorary board members for Alexian Brothers. Other celebrity subjects who have autographed their own Nicolosi Pop art portrait include: Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ashton Kutcher, Placido Domingo, Gary Sinise, Larry Hagman, Barbara Eden, Rita Moreno, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and Kirk Douglas.
